Lan (Adele) Chen is a recipient of a master's degree in Strategic Public Relations at the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Southern California. Prior to transferring to USC, she pursued graduate studies at the Communication and Journalism Department of the University of New Mexico. She also served as an instructor and teaching assistant for the courses Public Speaking and Introduction to Communication.

Adele is originally from China where she studied at Fudan University in Shanghai. She graduated in 2003 with a degree in broadcast journalism. She was the vice president of Magic Club, the only English student club on campus. She also volunteered as a student worker in the 2001 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation's Ministers Responsible for Trade Meeting in Shanghai. In addition, Adele interned at Bertelsmann Asia Publishing, MindShare Media Shanghai, Shanghai Oriental TV Station, and Shanghai Youth Daily during her undergraduate study.
