Candidate for Master of Public Diplomacy, USC
 
Katharine Keith is currently enrolled in the Master of Public Diplomacy program at the University of Southern California, where she will focus on integrating her interests in media, conflict resolution and international relations, specifically Middle East politics and diplomacy.

Prior to joining USC, Katharine was the Program Manager for the Center for Citizen Peacebuilding, a non-profit organization at the University of California, Irvine that focuses on citizen diplomacy to prevent violent conflict, promotes reconciliation and creates sustainable peace, locally and globally. She is the co-founder of the Olive Tree Initiative, a student delegation of Muslim, Jewish, Druze and Christian students who will travel to Israel and Palestine on a “fact finding” mission to interview local citizens, NGO’s and civil actors in order to better understand the conflict of the region.

Katharine graduated from the University of California, Irvine in 2008 earning her B.A. in International Studies with a focus on European International Relations, Middle East and African Studies and Conflict Resolution. Her undergraduate research thesis focused on Iran’s transition to democracy and the role of grassroots actors and track two diplomacy in Iran. During her undergraduate career, she also studied Farsi. In 2006, Katharine participated in an overseas intensive study and travel program focusing on the European Union which allowed her to live in Cyprus and travel around Europe, the Middle East and Northern Africa.
